Plymouth-Banjul Challenge - Three Teams Helping Pageant

Pageant now has three teams in the 2008 Plymouth-Banjul Challenge who are helping us in various ways. In previous challenges, teams raised nearly £20,000 for Pageant.
Team Transplant Titans consists of Hany Riad and Titus Augustine, who are senior consultant transplant surgeons at Manchester Royal Infirmary. Their chosen Pageant project is the Kings Kid Academy, a nursery school near Lamin south west of Banjul. As well as helping Pageant, Hany and Titus will be raising funds for their own Transplant Unit Endowment Research Fund, which facilitates transplant research projects at Manchester Royal Infirmary. One of the current projects is research into constructing a functioning human pancreas from transplanted embryonic pancreas tissue as a cure for diabetes.
They are seeking sponsorship both from individuals and corporate sponsors. Funds raised will first be used for the purchase and preparation of the vehicle and then the remainder will be split equally between Pageant and the Transplant Endowment Fund. They are kicking off their fundraising with a charity event - Sights, Sounds and Tastes of the Plymouth to Banjul Rally. This will be a themed evening incorporating Music, Food and Dance from Plymouth to the Gambia, hosted by Key 103’s Justin Moorhouse. It will be at The Living Room, Deansgate, Manchester, on 28th November 2007 at 7:30pm (reception) for 8:00 pm. The ticket price is £50.00. See the Transplant Titans webpage for further details, and how to get tickets.
Team Ginger & Turk is the second team helping Pageant, and consists of Michael Shooter and Guven Ozsanlav. They acquired a Range Rover in Wales and successfully drove it back to Yorkshire - a good omen for it to make the 4000 miles to the Gambia! They claim not to be good at fundraising, so any money raised for Pageant will be incidental (accidental?) However, they have offered to collect and transport stuff for schools in The Gambia.
Team Mellow-Yellow is our third team and consists of Cillin Whelan & Lindsay Rountree, both from Dublin. They will be driving a 1980 Mercedes 280CE, and will be passing through England on their way. They have offered to carry things to The Gambia for Pageant.
